A question was asked me by a relative of mine and it goes like this.

If the Devil in hell inflicts punishment on damned souls then doesn’t that make him good? Since isn’t punishment the expression of Justice then therefore if the Devil is inflicting punishment in Hell he is doing justice and therefore good?

I have my own personal answer to this question though I am curious for fellow educated answers from Catholics.

Uhm The damned are sent to Hell to BE with the Devil not to be punished by him. Being in Hell is the punishement.
Hell is the abscence of God.
Although it says that the final hell will be torment like being trown in the fire, How can we judge what pain we feel knowing we will be separated from God for all eternety.

The Devil’s intention is bad, so just as when he punishes people in this life and it serves Justice, when he continues to do so in Hell, it’s still doesn’t make him good.
