The difference between the 'old' Mass and the 'New'

Surely someone must realize that the Mass changed more than once from the time of Christ. Changes are made when the times appear to call for them. By the era of Vatican II, most people were literate and able to participate in ways that they couldn’t in earlier times. The current Mass is licit, valid and beautiful. If it is not beautiful, it is up the the pastor and/or the laity to see that it is. It may take some civilized quiet and non-confrotational discussion but surely it can be done. It may also take a visit with the bishop or failing that, reference to Rome.
The ‘old’ Mass that I grew up with was beautiful but when I first had a chance to go to a Tridentine Mass after years of the Novus Ordo, I was disappointed. I then realized that although I loved the old, I loved the new even more. The secret is in following the GIRM closely as well as accepting the new ‘rules’ so that every thing is in harmony. If we can’t accept the magisterium as the guiding hand in the Church, maybe we should look into ourselves to determine why we think we know more than they do. If you can’t accept the Church the way she is, there are many Protestant churches that would probably like to have you as a member (until you decided that you didn’t like the way they did things either.) Hey Grandma, what do you think of the then Cardinal Ratzinger calling what the liturgy that came after Vatican II to a “fabrication?”
So what are Catholics to do? Go to a “fabricated” Mass where the same Mass is celebrated differantly from parish to parish? You can even make your own translations it seems. Don’t call it the "Holy Gopsel…"but the “Good News…” Then one alerst the bishop and the director of liturgy in the diocese and they promote the priest and dare not say a word.

He was referring to the Mass as it was celebrated, not the Mass per se.

Amen to that! It is amazing the difference a little humility makes.
