I am new at praying The Divine Mercy Chaplet. Can anyone inform me the correct way of including prayer intentions while praying the chaplet. When I pray the rosary, I usually start out with the sign of the cross followed by my prayer intentions and then the Apostle’s Creed and proceed on. I not only pray for myself but for my loved ones and the world. Can it be done the same way as how I do it with the rosary? Any replies are greatly appreciated. Thank you all and God Bless.

There’s no hard and fast rule. Trust in Jesus Mercy is the important thing.

Yup, no hard and fast rule. I often state my intentions just before I start. I meditate on the sorrowful mysteries as I pray. I sometimes add some penance prayers on the space just before the “Our Father” bead. I try to pray the Divine Mercy at 3 o’clock for best effect (as that is the hour of mercy). But these are all strictly my own devotion.

From St. Faustina’s “Diary” …

1128 The Lord let me know that everything can be obtained by means of this prayer.
[Her prayer for rain was answered after three hours of steady praying the chaplet, in a time of severe drought.]

1541 My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet.

I almost always pray the chaplet for a particular intention before I begin it, such as for very seriously ill people who have been been blessed with full recovery through this chaplet. Praise be to God. When I have no special intention, I pray for the dying or souls in purgatory at 3 PM.

I actually ask for any prayer intention at the end of the Chaplet.

For example when I finish I say “Lord I say this Chaplet for the intention of…”.

I meditate on the sorrowful mysteries also and find it very powerful.
