There is much speculation by Christians as to when the end of the world will come.
But with the recent mass shootings across the United States, the end of the world for some of us could come any day.
It is important to dwell upon today’s Gospel reading. We need to focus every day on storing up what we need to get to Heaven and not so much on worldly things. Because we know not the day, the hour, or the place.
Special prayers for the people who have lost their lives because of gun violence and to the families of those people.
God bless all of my CAF brothers and sister this Sunday. 🙏🙏🙏

Gospel, Luke 12:13-21

13 A man in the crowd said to him, ‘Master, tell my brother to give me a share of our inheritance.’

14 He said to him, ‘My friend, who appointed me your judge, or the arbitrator of your claims?’

15 Then he said to them, ‘Watch, and be on your guard against avarice of any kind, for life does not consist in possessions, even when someone has more than he needs.’

16 Then he told them a parable, 'There was once a rich man who, having had a good harvest from his land,

17 thought to himself, “What am I to do? I have not enough room to store my crops.”

18 Then he said, "This is what I will do: I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and store all my grain and my goods in them,

19 and I will say to my soul: My soul, you have plenty of good things laid by for many years to come; take things easy, eat, drink, have a good time."

20 But God said to him, “Fool! This very night the demand will be made for your soul; and this hoard of yours, whose will it be then?”

21 So it is when someone stores up treasure for himself instead of becoming rich in the sight of God.’

We should not parallel mass shootings, a grave human made sin, with the second coming of Jesus.

My point is that we do not know when are life may come to an end. We need to be ready. We need to be prepared. I was comparing nothing to the second coming of Christ. Only God knows when that will happen.

These awful tragedies can serve a dual purpose - sorrow for those who lost their lives + prayer for their souls and the comfort of their grieving loved ones - but also a reminder that none of us knows the time when we may be called home to our particular judgement.

Hence the advice to always be ready - the parable of the 10 virgins, the wise ones and the foolish ones regarding having enough oil for their lamps and thus some were not ready to go out and meet the Lord.

Actually, any of us may find our end tomorrow or in the next hour, for us that is the end of time the same as it will be for those alive when Christ returns. We need to live as if this is our last moment, stay in friendship with God, like the wise virgins.

Even when we die, we are eternal. The world does not come to an end when we die.
We do not come to an end when we die.

Death is not the end of time for us.

We should live a just and upright life. Keep the Commandments and be in the service of God and others.

Lets stop thinking our death is the end of it for us. It is only the end of our time as mortals here on earth.

There is no time in eternity, so, death is the end of time.

We are heading down philisophical paths. This is off topic. I will say until the second coming of Jesus, the mortal world experiences time. This would make a great new thread.

I would also say, we must be pedantic about how we write. This is a public forum. We should not be saying death is the end for us. It is the culmination of one step on the journey, and the beginning if the next.

As I said, death is not the end for us, it is the end of time for us. Time’s up! We are off to meet our God

Yes, this is theological correct. The priests say death brings the personal Judgement, and thus it is considered the small Apocalypse for each and everyone of us. The Apocalypse of the world actually mean the collective Judgement.
Meaning “Revelation”, Apocalypse does not necessarily mean the world will be physical destroyed (in Psalm 104:5 it is said He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved., so the Apocalypse cannot mean that earth will be no more, destroyed).
And all the thoughts about Apocalypse should bring us closer to make sure we are prepared to meet with God, not panic about losing the world.
Praying for the forgiveness of sins and rest for all the victims of recent attacks in USA and worldwide.

The Church in the first couple of centuries thought the end of the world and time would come while they lived. And every generation after that.
