After Mass this morning I was reading the bulletin on the way home (in the passenger seat of course and not while driving), and turned to see that the USCCB is endorsing this act. It goes on to read that my parish is urging parishioners to call or write their Congressman in support of H.R.763 because it has bi-partisan support.
The legislation, according to the bulletin, seeks to reduce national carbon pollution emissions by over 90% by 2050. It goes on to read that global warming is a “social issue” and that this legislation is a “cost-effective” way to reduce carbon emissions, and is “revenue-neutral”.
How does it do this? Well, redistribution of wealth of course. It aims to tax and fee the snot out of carbon producers and give that money to the poor. However, they call it a “dividend” so it seems so wonderful! It also allures people into supporting it by stating (lying) it will increase jobs and grow GDP.
I want to vomit. Not only will killing the fossil fuel industry through centralized planning (we know how well that’s worked so far) not only destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs, it will actually hurt the poor because transporting food, supplies, people and water to places across the globe will be so exorbitantly high due to the increased “fees”, but redistribution of wealth is wrong. Finally, have the USCCB decided to listen to anyone on the other side of the debate, and not the generally 99.9% of the scientists who are athiests who believe in global warming, errr, climate change? In 30-40 years, we have heard “global cooling” go to “global warming” go to “climate change”. I’m not apt to believe a bunch of scientists who can’t make up their minds and lie about the data and suppress those who put forward strong counter data. Nor I am going to support the USCCB on this issue.
They should stay out of politics when they don’t know what they are talking about. This is economics and politics and has nothing to do with “social” issues.
