“O faithless generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him to me.”
Saint Mark 9:14-29.

Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.”

Saint John 16:23b-28.

They had finished scraping the barrel. All gone.

Their very faithlessness, and ours and of anyone around us, is precisely the place for His working. Perhaps we should remember that and dare to “shoot” upwards a daring little intercession!

We often find a juxtaposition between the faith of the disciples (small as it is) and the faithlessness of “the world”, who rejects and doubts Christ, in the Gospels. It is most explicit in the Gospel of St. John, but you can find it in the others.

"And when he was alone, the twelve that were with him asked him the parable.

And he said to them: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but to them that are without, all things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand: lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them." (Mark 4: 11-13)
