The 'fall'

Evolution is a banned topic but we are entitled to say that at some point in history our ancestors recognised evil for the first time, acted against their conscience and caused moral disruption of which we are the victims - as we can see from the bloodstained history of mankind. Natural evil has natural causes:

Catholicism teaches that at a definite point at the beginning of human history, one real person actually scorned his Creator and preferred himself over God. This real, singular event (original sin) broke the relationship between God the Creator and the created human being. Catholicism teaches that there was no evolution of a person’s spiritual soul. This spiritual soul is directly created at human conception.

Apparently not good enough.

First. I respect you and your worldview even though I disagree with it.

The difficulty with describing the “Fall” is that one needs to presume that a God exists as described by the Catholic Church. There has to be a willing suspension of disbelief. The next difficulty is that Catholicism’s description of the “Fall” differs from some of the other Christian faiths which run the gambit that human nature was totally corrupted by the Fall to gee whiz, there was no Fall.

If an athiest is willing to look at the Fall, from a Catholic doctrinal approach, then what happened to human nature becomes understandable. At that point, one is free to agree or disagree, accept or reject. There is no obligation to believe.
