I was listening to a priest the other day and he was saying that so many people are worried today looking at the problems the church is in. He said the church has “died” five times in these 2000 years and added that there were periods of 4 centuries each that the church has gone through different “deaths.”
The first 4 centuries: External persecution.
The second 4 centuries: Schisms and heresy.
The third 4 centuries: Internal failings, the worldliness of the church, two sometimes even three popes, et cetera.
The fourth 4 centuries: A dormant church.
My question is what are the problems that we are facing today in the fifth period?
