1. The new world order is here and Christians are personal non grata. Get used to it. The punishment is coming and no amount of “hope” is going to stop it.
2. I cannot relate to men who have refused the opposite sex and thus I ignore everything they say about chastity. Glad it’s only a discipline. Would you like a millionaire megachurch pastor lecturing you on the virtues of poverty and humility?
3. The fish rots from the head. All homosexuals and pederasts should be removed from the Church immediately. Start with the Vatican.
4. Married people are not angelic after years of fornicating.
5. The Church says decisions about who goes to hell are left to God alone while giving a list of sins that will send one to hell. How convenient. I get 2+2=4 and I also get 3+9-8=4.
6. We are told life is a gift? Whose gift? No one chose to be here.

rk1776, I noticed that you included yourself in the group of Christians. As Christians, we live in HOPE. This world is temporary, often permeated with evil–but we don’t base our hope on things of this world. We belong to another.

Do you believe this? Do you live in hope? I would challenge you to entertain the idea that yes, we had no choice in our creation–but we were LOVED into creation. This calls us both to an obligation to the ONE who gave us everything, and a response of love in return to the world.

If all you have to base this one on is your experience with your friends, then that’s going to be a very, very (very) small data sample by comparison to the rest of the world and slippery ground on which to base any claims for the rest of the world’s Christians faithful.

While the legislator writes the law, the judge sees to it that the law has been followed and passes judgment. A judgment in the affirmative or negative regarding a particular person has no bearing on the value of the law, which is assumed.

Suicide bears implications of mental illness, which in turn can often mean a disturbance in “full knowledge” or “deliberate consent.” You are entirely correct in that Comrade Blokhin would appear to have committed several material sins in his lifetime. But were they formal sins? Did he really know what he was doing? Wouldn’t you have to be at least a little off your rocker to kill so many people?

These are all questions you don’t know the answers to, but depending on the answers to them, are plausible reasons for what you call a “divergence” between the legislator and the judge.

Perhaps if you approached this discussion with a smaller chip on your shoulder, the responses would be different.

Look, your OP is rather depressing, if that truly is your outlook on life. I’m not quite sure what you expect, in terms of discussion. Your OP pretty much just dumps on the world, life in general and the Catholic Church. Are you looking to vent, do you want someone to blow sunshine up your backside, or are you looking for an improved theological understanding of the world?

I think we’d like to be able to give you a modicum of hope, but you have to approach the questions with the right attitude.
