I feel like women, especially mothers can help pass on kindness, compassion and gentleness upon the whole world. And for those who do, thank you.

But the thing is, in many places and in many times, why isn’t it so?

And what can we do about it, regardless of gender?

As a young mother, weary from little sleep and the daily demands, I must say that encouragement goes a long way. This post, for instance. Thank you!

You can’t always correct the bad that you see but you are always able to commend the good.

We all have free will, and can choose to cooperate with the Lord and be the best we can be; or we can choose otherwise.

So, the good needs to start in ourselves, and then others can be inspired by our good points.

I remember meeting many women in my life who were great inspirations for me to become better, and I still meet more as life goes on.

umm… personally, as a women, this post was somewhat offensive. God’s will for me was to not have kids, I am not a mother, yet I have done a lot for others people’s kids. Where is my recognition.

Also, it makes me feel like there is an insinuation that women are single handedly responsible for doing good and men can do what they want. Why can men pull their weight and show kindness? Not to mention a lot of men do good deeds, where is their thanks?

Not every woman is the same. Joan of Arc, for instance, had a somewhat different charism than the one you describe.

Or, depending on circumstances, those particular virtues (which have a lot of overlap) may not be the ones most called for. The seven virtues are: faith, hope, charity, prudence, justice, temperance and fortitude/courage. I believe that the kindness, compassion and gentleness you mention are probably forms of charity, which leaves a whole six virtues unattempted. Believe it or not, those remaining six virtues are important for women, too.

I think your post means well and thank you for saying such nice things about my gender. I am the proud mother to a pet, mt pet-kid, and my pet is nurturing of me, too.

Overall, I do think chivalry should be practiced more. If a man opens a door for me, that is so nice and I always say thank you. I open the door for men, too. Chivalry isn’t gender-exclusive. I think everyone worldwide should be more gentle and kind and nurturing.

As mentioned animals are nurturing, too. Think of our pets and animals who love us unconditionally. We can learn from them, too. St. Francis did…
