as there was no punctuation in the early writings of the gospels, could there have being a different translation in the following verse.
Amen I say to you today,(comma) you will be with me in paradise."
or
"Amen I say to you, (comma) today you will be with me in paradise
this means that the good thief either went straight heaven or purgatory
