I kind of think this is an overrated movie, but what really got me was that Ann Bancroft was only 36 when she portrayed Mrs. Robinson. I can’t remember the entire story, but I’m supposing they made her older in the movie. It just flabbergasts me…because I’m 38.

And that got me thinking about how I see myself. I mean, except for the fact I have to pee a lot more often, I feel like I’m in my 20s. I hate not being self-aware. Am I going to be one of those guys in their mid to late 40s who drives a motorcycle and hangs out in clubs? I hope not…

Ann Bancroft…that’s the type of woman I’d like to marry…but that movie was way overrated…

I never like the movie. Dustin Hoffman acting like a little boy…Anne Bancroft CLEARLY a lot older…nice woman, but she looked way older than her supposed “35”.

As long as you don’t get a toupe and a corvette, I think you’ll be fine, Norm.

😃

But I get what you’re saying…I feel young, but the mirror tells a sad sad story…LOL

What’s wrong with riding a motorcycle?

Ever see the British comedy series “Last of the Summer Wine”? It airs from time to time on PBS. In essence, it consists of three decidedly old-coots who refuse to live as such. Yes, the result is comic, but these are three people who are presented as enjoying their life, not quieting down and awaiting the inevitable.

As long as you are fulfilling the duties of your life position, there is no compelling reason to “act your age.” Age is a matter of the body. Live your life as permitted by your body; not as dictated by the social value placed on a number!

PS: I am a forty something, have never had a motorcycle, but were I not too chicken, I’d try it!

PPS: I never did the club thing, it always seemed pointless to me.

ICXC NIKA.

It’s not necessarily sad…just a reminder that it is fading away time. (I’m in my upper 70’s) 🙂

I don’t wanna fade away…that’s my point.
I want to go out with a bang and a laugh.
:rotfl:

Another strange fact, if such a thing were to happen in modern times, there would be many people out there trying to send the teacher to prison or charge her with something!! Makes me wonder what has become of our society.

No, in real life she was 35, they made her look older in the movie. It’s just an odd feeling, lol…

Well, she married Mel Brooks, so work on your sense of humor more than buying a motorcycle or hanging out in clubs. 😉

I always thought Suzanne Pleshette was really attractive, and she wound up marrying Tom Poston (Bob Newhart’s pal “The Peeper” on his first TV show), so funny guys may have an advantage.

…Have you seen the movie? While the idea of a 50 year old woman cheating on her husband with a 20 year old recent college graduate is distasteful, I don’t think that anyone wants to criminalize it. Also, Mrs. Robinson is not his teacher.

The Graduate is one of my very favorite movies. I think that humor is quirky and awkward, and the story is in a lot of ways charming. It’s like, Michael Cera in the 1960’s. I love it.
