The Great Controversy & National Sunday Law

Hi everyone. I have a big problem. I work at an “Institution” and I receive mail that I process and send to my “Clients”. Everyday I receive mail from Seventh Day Adventists bible studies that disguised themselves with other names until the bible study is halfway through and then it reveals itself that the Pope is the Anti-Christ, the whore of Babylon, the mark of the beast, ect. I also receive books like “The Great Controversy” & “National Sunday Law”. I have some experience in refuting some of the accusations, but I would like to get a page-by-page apologetics on these books. If possible in a couple of pages. Thank You.

Unfortunately there is a dearth of such material. The Catholic Insight website has some and some links. The SDA’s are experts at deception. They cover themselves well. I think it is some sense of shame they must feel. I believe they are one of the most underrated anti-Catholic bigoted groups out there. I have even thought of writing the book on them myself. I always go to the seminars and debate them.

As they do seem very very very opposed to Catholicism - the question has to be asked, “Why?”​

Would “The Great Controversy” contain the answer ? Or is this distaste for “Popery” something the SDAs have picked up from living in a predominantly Protestant culture ?

Or is their “anti-Popery” a side-effect of their emphasis on keeping the Sabbath ?

If the reasons for their dislike of Catholicism could be discovered, it might be easier to get to grips with these reasons.

One must allow for the influence of non-rational factors, such as learning one’s attitudes from society; but there must surely be some kind of reason for their distaste. ##

IMHO, most of the Anti-Catholicism is rooted in the founders of the denomination. Most of the early SDA’s believed that the RC church was the primary means of spreading the three great “heresies”…

1. The false Sabbath (Sunday)
2. The false state of the dead
3. The Trinity

The Current Church now believes in the Trinity, but the rampant Anti-Catholicism has been passed down for the past 150 years. Most simply do not know any better.
