No matter how many times I tried reading the Hobbit at school I just couldn’t get through it, I found it so boring.

That is one of the few books I just ate up as a kid. I recall reading it in roughly one day while on vacation at the beach. My mom had never seen me so engrossed in a book before.

It’s one of those things people either hate or love. I loved Lord of the Rings, but I agree with you about the hobbit. Have tried to read it many times, have finally placed it in a pile marked, things whose attraction totally eludes me.

The linked website is rather addictive to a history buff like myself.

Haha, yes, the “1905-1908: Edwardian Street Fashion in London and Paris” photos have me thinking I was born decades too late. 😃

Me too! Glad I’m not the only one 😃 I feel the same about the LOTR. But I feel like I should read them and introduce them to my children one day because of the Catholic themes and the Catholic moral landscape that is central to the stories.

I didn’t really enjoy any of them when I was a child or early teen. It was only a couple of decades later that I reread them-- and loved them.

Sweet link didymus!

Is it just me or did Gollum remind anyone of Mr. Burns? :o
