It’s not blaspheming the Holy Word of God. It’s putting a microscope on the deformative perversions of the Bible by Luther, et al.
And if you’re a fundamentalist, this is not far from what your church is teaching.
If you don’t believe me, just go visit a few “Bible Only” church web sites like Calvary Chapels’ or Southern Baptists. By the Bible, alone? Where in the Bible are all these “hate Mary” and “hate the Catholic idolators” scriptures that they’re teaching?
Lighten up. If it’s okay to hate Catholics even though you don’t have a clue as to what Catholicism really is, then surely it’s all right to shine the light of satire on the hypocrisies of the Catholic-haters.

Im sorry to tell you this RV, but there really is versions of the “Bible” out there that are really perversions. Especially in some more moderrn versions, like the Message and stuff where the Bible is looked at as simply a novel or uses inclusive language and stuff.

It might even be funnier if it wasn’t such a good synopsis of the things that n-Cs of every stripe tell us every single day in here.
It’s confounding when we share a passage of the Word of God with someone who tells us that they believe that it’s the inerrant, infallible Word of God and then they look us in the eye and try to tell us that the passage doesn’t mean what it says. Even when we show them that the ECF all said the same blessed thing.
It’s good to have a laugh about it because the rest of the time we spend crying as we pray for them.

Actually I see this work of “humor” as simple hate towards fundamentalists. It is never right to return hate with hate.It’s not blaspheming the Holy Word of God. It’s putting a microscope on the deformative perversions of the Bible by Luther, et al.

Also, it is interesting that the “correct” version of the Bible was taken mostly from the NIV, a protestant Bible.
As a Catholic, I could give you what the fundamentalists would say is humorous Catholic version of the Bible, and I’d probably get thrown off this site.

The need for a Doctrinal Equivalence approach was made clear to us when we were attempting to deal with the difficult question of the New Testament teaching on “tradition.” We know that all tradition is bad, but unfortunately, the Greek word for tradition, paradosis, is sometimes used to refer to something good. We were at a loss as to how to make the true teaching on tradition clear in our translation until one of the members of the committee brought to our attention the strategy used by the translators of the New International Version (NIV). In that translation, we discovered that whenever paradosis refers to something bad (Matt. 15:2-3, 6; Mark 7:3, 5, 8, 9, 13; Gal. 1:14; Col. 2:8), it is translated as “tradition,” but whenever it refers to something good (1 Cor. 11:2, 2 Thess. 2:15, 3:6), it is translated as “teaching.”
As scholars, we were shocked by this. The NIV translators, by selectively translating this word, had completely changed the meaning of the text, and had successfully hidden the fact that the New Testament sometimes commends tradition. One of our members, moved by the Holy Spirit, shook his head and said, “Shoot, if they can go so far as to distort the text in order to promote their doctrines . . . why can’t we?” From that moment on, we knew exactly how we would proceed in our own translation. With God’s help, and with His guidance at every step, we would make the text say exactly what we’ve been taught He originally intended it to say.
We give thanks to almighty God that although these glorious doctrines were completely lost, vanished from the face of the earth, for many centuries of Papal darkness, He finally saw fit to reveal them through the plain teachings of the Bible that, it turns out, had been there all along. Thanks be to God for allowing us to rediscover these lost truths that are really the plain teachings of the Bible, so that the glorious light of the True Gospel (Copyright 1881 by B.B. Warfield and Charles Hodge) can shine upon the earth once more.

We, the members of the Committee on Translation, wish it to be known that we were moved by God to make this new translation of the Bible. In order to bring the Word of God clearly to light, we have adopted a variation of the “Dynamic Equivalence” technique. According to the principle of Dynamic Equivalence, the text is translated thought-for-thought, instead of word-for-word. This is in no way even COMPARABLE to the very real hatred you will find on any number of anti-Catholic sites. You might as well compare the guards at GITMO to Pol Pot or Hitler — oh wait, Dick Durbin already did that.

Hello Rv12213,
It is nice to have a 15 year old mature enough to come on the apologetic forum. You might not be aware but there are actually groups of Christians who mentally translate the bible verses in this way. They are normally very difficult to have a conversation with.
