Hey guys, I wanted to share with you about how my deacon did his homily at mass today.
He begin my having 12 people come up (like the twelve apostles in the John 6 reading today, that kept believing)
And he gave each person a card and explained the importance:
The church
Peter the first Pope
Baptism
Holy Orders
Eucharist
Confirmation
Reconcilation
Matrimony
Annonting of the Sick
The Bible
Communion of Saints
Mary
That is what all the cards said, and he begin by talking about how Jesus created out Church, and then he has Peter be the rock of the church to keep it in order, then people got baptised, and the Holy Orders is where he talked about our priests and how they have certain blessings from God that only they can do.
So he continued (by the way he said a lot more then what I am saying), then he talked about the Reformation in the 1500s and what happened because of this.
The people who reformed no longer belonged to the church (so the church man sat down), and they dont believe in Popes (the one with the pope card sat down), he told the baptism card to stay up, so on and so forth, all the people with the other sacraments sat down because they dont have priests who can preform what God really wanted, or they are not all the same. He had the bible person stay standing up even though there at 7 more books in our bible, and they dont believe in interceeding with the Saints, and they dont hold Mary as high as we do, she is the Mother of God, not just some ordinary woman.
So all that was left standing was the bible and baptism…
That really hit me about how much is REALLY missing. Yea some churches have eucharist and confirmation, but it is not the same belief as ours…
It was really moving for me and the Deacon also cried at the end. He explained it a lot better then I did, but I hope you guys got the gist…
We also just got a 300lb crucifix that is going to hang over our altar! I’m sooo excited!
