A tabernacle was stolen from a Catholic church in St. Catharines, Ont., last week.
It was later found broken and partly submerged in a canal. The contents of the tabernacle, the consecrated hosts, were missing.
So what’s the big deal? Things get stolen every day, don’t they? Most of it was found.
When a consecrated host is lost or damaged, it not a thing— it’s a person. It is Jesus, body, blood, soul and divinity.
