I was reading St. Augustine City of God as he muses on how things would have be in our lives if man had not fallen. He explains that we would control our reproductions organs at will just as we do other organs. However, these organs rebel against us as if in testimony of our rebellion against God. They obey lust instead of love.
As he explains how man would have copulated with his wife, he used the words ‘sowing the seed’. And later he said that when giving birth, a woman would not have difficulties…the baby would have gotten out as easly as a fruit falling from a tree when it is ready. Easy because the woman would have full command over her the muscles of her reproduction system…
Now this sowing of seed talk made me see a similarity with the world of plants. A seed is planted in the ground, start growing, and eventually appear in the air to ‘breath’ the air. This is basically the same for us. We are planted in our mother’s womb, and grow in there, and eventually come out in the open air…
However why would God install the reproduction system almost in the same system as the excretion system? could we be planting some other type of seeds with our excretion system? Or are we a type of excrement? sorry about the use of those seemingly unproper terms. I can’t find better ones…
Genesis 1 and 2 talks about Man planting and eating seeds of plants, could this be related somehow?
God bless
