In Acts 5, there is a man called Ananias, who St Peter rebukes for keeping back part of his belongings, and he dies.
In Acts 9, the man who prays over St Paul to give him back his sight after the Damascan road vision is also called Ananias.
I realise the Book of Acts is not linear, so I was wondering, are these two people the same man? Does the Church have any teaching on this matter?
If someone can be so attentive to God, so brave as to go to the house of the man who had approved of St Stephen’s martyrdom, and then fall and die in mortal sin, that is a pretty stark warning to the rest of us.
