This year’s Immaculate Conception mass occurs on a Monday. I have school then, so does Sunday mass fulfill both the weekly and Immaculate Conception mass requirements? I read somewhere that if a Holy Day of obligation falls on a Sunday, Saturday or Monday, you do not need to go to Mass twice in the US. Is this true?

Happy Holidays, as we await the day we celebrate the birth of the Messiah †

There are a few masses that are not to be abrogated (erased because the feasts happen on Sat or Mon). The Immaculate Conception Holyday is one of those.

You’ll have to go to an evening Mass, most likely.
Or, is you go to a Catholic school, maybe they’ll bring you over. 🙂

I do not know of any evening Monday masses in my area, and I am not enrolled in Catholic school. Because I was recently very sick and out of school, I have to come to school on time (no coming in late) to make up the work I missed. 😦

Then let your priest know when you see him at Sunday Mass. He will advise or excuse you.
Peace.

almost every parish has an evening Mass. In my case I work second shift so I can’t go to an evening Mass. I had to do a bit of searching but found a 10 am Mass in the next town. I usually don’t get up till 11 but I can do it for one day.

We don’t have such problems here. Every Sunday we have 10 Masses and on any other Holy Day of Obligation we have the Sunday Mass schedule so its pretty much impossible for anyone to say they couldn’t get to Mass.
