Hello,

Recently I’ve been trying to find a copy of the original Jerusalem Bible (not the New Jerusalem Bible). Unfortunately, the only edition in print is the Reader’s Edition, which isn’t exactly known for the quality of the print, and cuts out most of the footnotes besides. The Salvador Dalí illustrated editions, published in 1968 and 1971, are reasonably easy to find on Amazon or eBay or Half.com, but they’re pretty expensive.

Does anyone know where I can find the original 1966 edition, without the Dalí illustrations but with all the footnotes? Thanks!

(BTW, I hope this is in the right forum…)

It is possible to buy a new copy of the 1965 Jeruselum Bible.
ISBN: 0-385-49918-3
New purchased hard back copies are available through Amazon.com. If you search on the ISBN you will find what’s available. The cost of the hard back is $19.77 at Amazon.
I was hoping to find an electronic copy onlilne, but I don’t see where one is available.

You’re better off without most of the footnotes, which are largely liberal supposition about who “really” wrote the books and which bits they supposedly made up.

In this the original Jerusalem Bible is worse than the New Jerusalem Bible, in which a few tiny bits of non-liberalism manage to sneak into the notes on rare occasions.
