has nayone checked out this evangelical ministry xxxchurch?
what do you think of it? I personally think that is inapproprite and dissrespects the word of God by pasting “jesus loves porn stars” in big letters accross the bible. I believe that thoes in the adult film industry need to be evangelized, but this is not the right way to go about it.

To be expected from myspace… I know there are probably some people who use myspace an enjoy it, but with anyone being able to create a myspace account, this kind of thing is bound to happen.

This may be a joke to. I didnt really look over it too well, but it wouldnt surprise me if it was a joke.

Jesus does love porn stars - so much so that He died for their sins on the Cross.

But He also needs them to love Him in return, be converted, and put away their sins. They can’t continue to sin - they need to repent, believe, and begin to live the Christian life.

She may call herself Catholic but she is most obviously not living the life of a moral Catholic. That is grave public scandal, so it seems to me she’s essentially excommunicated herself. She’s welcome back in the Church, of course, if she repents of her sins and tries to sin no more.

And I agree, though Jesus DOES love porn stars, there are better ways to evangelize to them.

I don’t think the Church teaches that MM was a prostitute anymore. There’s no specificity to her 7 demons which were cast out.

Mary Magdalene as a prostitute is more a legend than a verifiable fact. The Bible is silent on this matter.

I looked the myspace thingy over and didn’t see anything that looks out of line. It’s possible that this might just be an outreach to porn people from one of their own.

As for Jenna Jameson…being Catholic is not preclusive to being messed up. So that is nothing much. I suspect that many porn stars have some kind of religious affiliation. Does that make them faithful believers? Of course not.

The notion that Mary Magdalen was a prostitute is not Biblical. The New Testament says that Our Lord cast seven devils out of her but nothing as to her lifestyle or sins. (see Mark 16:9 & Luke 8:2) Some people have asserted that she was (a la DaVinci code bunk) but it’s just not there. I have read somewhere that she was actually a smart and wealthy woman and was a great asset to the early church, so I don’t know. There is tradition that she was tight with the Blessed Virgin and lived out here life with her in Ephesus.

As for “Jesus loves porn stars”, if it’s legit as a ministry, I suppose they are like Our Lord in that they are “a friend of sinners”.

No, they’re not joking around. I’ve been to their website, they are 2 guys ( probably more, but mainly I think 2 guys) and they really get into their ministry.

They go set up booths and give away Bibles at like porn conventions and stuff. Things like that. They know a lot of people in the industry, looks like from the website.

At least they are there witnessing and if nothing else, well, they’re there witnessing and making contacts for Jesus.

I expect if any of their contacts they meet at the shows had a question about something Christian related, they would probably ask someone with that ministry. Dont’cha think?

If they are witnessing and trying to offer a different form of life, that is, a godly way, to these people, then fine, I have no problem with that. But if they are trying to say that it doesn’t matter what sort of profession you do or how you live, no, that is not okay.

I never said it was from the bible. Traditionally, I believe it was understood that she was a prostitute and lived out her life as a hermit in France according to the writings of Eusebius. I don’t have the reference to this but I’m sure it exists if you look hard enough.
