Because of all the antisemitism I see expressed in various places on this forum, I thought I’d start a thread about the late John Cardinal O’Connor, a truly saintly and moral Roman Catholic whom I was greatly honored to have known.

As a religious Jew who is also very conservative on moral issues, the beauty of the late Cardinal O’Connor was not just that he truly believed in and worked for the betterment of relations between Jews and Catholics.
He also was a staunch moral conservative, and I first met him via my work in the pro-life movement, only to find we also had Jewish-Catholic ecumenical relations work in common.
I knew Cardinal O’Connor for several years, and exchanged many letters of correspondence with him. I consider myself very honored to have known him, and that he took the time to communicate with me as often as he did.
If anyone wants to know what a GENUINE Catholic is like, you need look no further than this man, or the late Pope John Paul II.
I personally am deeply grateful to have known him before finding this forum, because he enabled me to see what a genuine Catholic is.
I shudder to think what I might have thought about Catholicism, and Catholics, if some of the people I’d run into on this forum had been my only experience.
