Well, certainly His form did not physically luminesce; else people would have rushed to see this glowing human being. Clearly this meaning was spiritual. He did not come to get rid of dark alleys or human blindness, for that matter (since our world has both to this day). He came to remove the darkness of spiritual obstinacy that hides the life everlasting from human life.
And, of course, on the Mount of Transfiguration, His body did physically luminesce. Presumably, this is how we will see Him when He opens our Heavenly eyes

Literally he is the Light of the world, but light is to be understood as the Light of wisdom that shines from the Father. The Father would be like the sun, and Jesus would be that light that shines from the sun. He is that Light that allows us to see the ways of God.
Now is the the physical light that bring about daylight, of course not, but He is the One who created it!

Be it known that “as it was so shall it be”.It has been conjectured that God created the sun on the fourth day to prove to sun worshippers and others that the sun is not God and that God the son[sun]is God of the sun and was and is the light of the world at the beginning [the first three days] as at the end - see Apoc[Rev]20:23 & 22:5 - twinc

It seems that Jesus is speaking about the bright cloud of God’s presence which guided the Isrealites throught the wilderness during the Exodus in the Old Testament. Jesus spoke of himself as “the Light”, so that if we follow his teachings He guides us through our journey of Faith.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” MAT 5:14-16
Based on the above passage, combined with the parable of the leaven (MAT 13:33), I think what a major theme of Christ was how a righteous person’s actions are energetic and act as an influence on others.

Who says he won’t create a new sun for our new Earth? He’s God, he can do anything. If he wants to create a new Sun and be shiny Himself all at the same time, he can do that.

as regards religious nuts,enough said but there are some who really believe that God can really do anything - btw it seems He does not want to create a new sun but He is shiny Himself all the time - see Apoc/Rev.21:23 & 22:5 - twinc
