The light of the world.

Muslims are given a ‘touchstone’ in the Qur’an to enable us to determine whether or not anything that we may see or come across is really our Creator and Sustainer.

**Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
And there is none like unto Him.
**
What this sura says is that if we see or even imagine anything which even remotely resembles any of His creations, then we can be 100% sure that the object that we are “envisioning” is not our Creator and hence it must NEVER be worshiped.

And so, if indeed we are talking about a light that we are able to see with our eyes, then the Light of Allah is not the same as the light of His prophets (peace be upon them all).

None of us are trying to confuse literal light with allegorical light. Please do not think that is what any of us are doing.

My point is that Allah and Muhammad are both referred to allegorically as “light.” Parallelism in this type of literature plays a huge role. It is not idle to say X is light, Y is light. If the allegory is to be maintained but parallelism is supposed to be avoided, one would say X is the light, and Y carries the light. It equates the former and creates a distinct division in the latter. You cannot say X is light, and Y is light, but X and Y are in no way related to one another. This is where the confusion has arisen from.

But I will also repeat what I said before when I said that I cannot authoritatively apply this to the Quran, because I am not sure if this kind of structuring exists for Arabic literature of the time period. I know it existed for all other literatures of the same period in that part of the world, so I believe I can safely apply it to the Quran. I just can’t do so authoritatively.
 
I personally hang on to this with all I have and pray that others would also.

O my God, who are infallible Truth and can neither deceive nor be deceived, I firmly believe all that you have revealed and propose to my belief though your holy Church, because you have revealed it. I believe that you are one in nature and three in Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Does anyone if the Greek/Aramaic indicates what is meant by ‘of’.Does it mean a spiritual radiance for the world (physically the sun is the light of the world), or does it mean a spiritual radiance from the world (physically, the street lamps are light of the world).

I would think of it in the following way:

When we say the “light” at the end of the tunnel, we are usually referring to the reflected “Light” of the Sun, which is of course the source of this reflected “light”.

And so, the terms “the light” and “the Light” are not exactly the same although they both mean the Light of Guidance to take people out of darkness.

Remember that is an English translation of the Arabic word “نُورُ”, the word in Arabic doesn’t support the concept of “l” or “L”. 😉

However, here is an “L” for JESUS: 👍

John 8:12 (New American Standard Bible)
"Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

When the books and letters of the Greek New Testament were originally written, Greek was written in all capital letters, without spaces between words, and without punctuation.

I was merely pointing out that the “original” New Testament had no capital letters, without spaces between words, and without punctuation.

Corruptness of the Bible is besides the point here.

the above is a lie from the pit of Hell

the truth is as follows,

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 1:9 There was the true light (Jesus), even the light which lighteth every man, coming into the world.
 
The corruption of the Bible comes from men who are concerned about things of this world, and who reject the prophets of the Bible…including the New Testament, and who are not animated by the Holy Spirit…

God said let there be light…God created light and He created the light out of darkness.

When people turn their lives to Christ – the light of the world – He turns the darkness of their souls into light and then they are able to understand the true intent of Scriptures.
