I forgot these verses number or the book they contained or what they exactly said word by word but im pretty sure the idea is still the same.

A JW friend quoted this as justification for their changing and shifting beliefs while I explained to him their blunders. It caught me off guard when he stated these verses saying, “the JW’s reached the almost perfect understanding of Christ and this started during CTR’s time. And from then on—the WTS kept on improving their beliefs. And these verses prove that it is permitted”.

I know this verses are just being self-wise on their part, but what is OUR understanding regarding these verses? What is the Church’s (who remained consistent since Christ’s time) take on these verses of “slowly revealing the truth”? Are these verses enough for the WTS to disregard Russel’s original teachings calling it devoid of knowledge?

Our Lord said that the Holy Spirit would lead us into all Truth.
Through the centuries, thats exactly whats been happening. But, right from the start, the Church has taught only the Truth, and has never had to reject one of Her earlier teachings to make way for something “more truthful”.

There has been a DEVELOPMENTor DEEPENING of doctrine eg Who exactly Christ is; His relationship with the Father, His two natures etc, but that`s different from the JW claim.

The Church continues to dig deeper and deeper into the Deposit of Faith which was given to the Apostles, and remained fixed after the death of St. John. Dogmas sush as the Immaculate Conception flow from that, as well. Not mentioned as such in Scripture, but a result of the increase in the Church`s Knowledge and Wisdom.
All later Church teachings re Faith and Morals grow organically from earlier ones, and can NEVER contradict earlier ones.

Galatians 1:8-9 applies to the JWs, and all other Protestant groups to a greater or lesser extent. But, keep in mind the Churchs DEVELOPMENT of doctrine, as already mentioned. After all, anti-Catholics will say that weve added anti-Scriptural beliefs.

The Holy Spirit is the Soul of the Church. As individuals, we may hold false beliefs, and were sinners, but the Church as a living Organism is faultless. Were like good and bad body cells.

Thanks! I never thought of it that way. If their beliefs CHANGE rather than be strengthened, then it would mean that the guiding spirit (HS) is also confused with what doctrine suits best!

I know that its just their excuse to escape accusations from Russel’s very pagan theology.

It`s ridiculous to claim that God would allow His Church to initially teach error, until the Holy Spirit got around to correcting it. And more than 1,800 years after that particular Pentecost!!!

Like a lot of others, Russell became spooked by the idea of hell, so he decided to abolish it! And, as we say, the rest is history.

And the splintering of these denominations just goes on and on. If you don`t like what the preacher is saying, go off and start your own. Built on sand, rather than solid rock.

Apparently, it`s now well over 30,000!

i tried to cover all bases, so it became a bit long-winded. Kept adding, and adding …
