I am trying to find out who added the last part of the Lord’s prayer.
I notice that Catholics don’t recite the part,“for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever”.
I asked a protestant pastor and his answer did not make sense.
He said that the those last words only magnify God’s glory and there’s nothing wrong with that. I asked about Rev.22:18,“For I testify to every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book: If any man shall add to these things, God shall add unto him the plagues written in this book.”
He looked at me as if I was just being argumentive. I really want to know the truth.
Who added “for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory”?
I tried a search but didn’t find out who made the change and why.
