What Traditional Catholic society is the best to follow?..and which is the most licit and valid, and most beneficial for ones soul?

Where is the right Mass to be found?..Everyone says something different, but no one speaks with simplicity like the early Father’s of the Church…I am but a poor farmer, and do not have very good means for researching…So, I beg you all to help me…May God help you to lead me to the truth…

May God bless you always!

You’re “but a poor farmer”? Are you joking or do you honestly view yourself as that?

In any case, the Institute of Christ the King (ICRSS) and the Priest Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) are the best, although with the advent of the Motu Proprio you’ll probably find diocesan priests saying the Tridentine Mass.

Dear Catholig,
You asked me, “You’re “but a poor farmer”? Are you joking or do you honestly view yourself as that?”…Well, I do guess that it depends what you call poor…I guess…My parents are wealthy enough; however, I myself am not so…I am now trying to make enough money to support a family of 26 (chickens ;*)…and at the same time have cleaning, cooking, and such for my family…without counting my school…
If I were to all of the sudden be on my own (which may happen sooner or later since some of my family do not like the Tridintine Mass, and I may have to move closer to a good one)…Well, yes…I think that I could be called a poor farmer…

You go right on, AMDGJMJ2! I haven’t seen such an alphabet soup since I was a child in Catholic school before Vatican II. And we too rely upon chickens to add to our coffers. And I am not making that up. Our income has been severly affected by the loss of close to 150 chickens and ducks this summer due to all the building going on around us and habitat displacement. We’re not poor farmers but we have been hit hard.

Consider adding ACJ and ACM to the mixture. (Sacred Heart of Jesus; Sacred Heart of Mary). My papers in high school always had ACJ on the left; JMJ (with crosses) at the top; and ACM on the right. My children (who went to Catholic grade and high school) did not learn this. Thank you.

Dear Brotherhrolf,
Thanks for the note…Before I actually had “SHJ” and “BVM” (i.e. Sacred Heart of Jesus and Blessed Virgin Mary) because I did not know the latin for them…I do wish that people would start using such frases more often…Do you really think it was Vatican II that effected this?..
Well, may God bless you always!

Yours in Christ through Mary,

The Society of St. John Cantius

The Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest

The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter

Take responsibility for your own soul. Some traditional priests- even ones that are in communion with Rome- can be a bit extreme. If penances are too wierd, or are physically harmful, don’t do them- ask another priest for another one. If the priest does nothing but talk about modesty and has a fit when a woman’s wrist is showing, I would only go to them if I were about to die. If the attitude of the community tends to be more “look at me- look how holy I am” rather than an atmosphere of humility, reverence, Christian charity, and piety, then you are in the wrong place.

On a side note…please consider putting the letters you have at the end of your post. When you hold your mouse over an unopened thread, it shows the first few lines of the post. That is helpful to those of us with slow internet connections- but if that space is taken up by a link or by a bunch of letters (though the idea of the prayers is good) it doesn’t help much.🙂

Brotherhrolf,

What does ACJ & ACM stand for in Latin? Amabilissimum Cor Jesu & Amabilissimum Cor Mariae?

any Mass celebrated in in Catholic Church, of the Latin rite or any of the Eastern rites in union with Rome is valid and licit. There is no such thing as a Traditional Catholic Society. There is a Catholic Church, one, holy, catholic and apostolic. Period.

I think he’s talking about FSSP & ICRSS. Catholig

I believe it is French. I was taught by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart whose origins are in France.
