Has anyone ever heard of or met any of the men from I think is a lay missionary group called the micheals. I remembered they stopped by my house one saturday afternoon 20 years ago, I was 13, and they asked to pray a decade of the rosary with us. They wore white berets. Supposedly they came around again maybe 8 years or so later, and stopped by my grandmother’s house, my grandmother was no longer living there, she was in a nursing home, her granddaughter was living there, and invited them in, because she knew our grandmother would appreciate it.

I never heard of the Michaels, but we did have some young men visit our house about 20 or so years ago. They looked like seminarians, wearing black pants and black shirts and they wore a large miraculous medal around their neck. They seemed very devout and were devoted to our Blessed Mother. They also were concerned about corruption within the Church. During that period, it was a difficult time in the church when many liturgical abuses were going on throughout the archdiocese and many liberal nuns and priests seemed to have much control and many did not wear their habits. I told my pastor about this visit and he was concerned about who was visiting people in our town and representing themselves as Catholic. That pastor was more of a moderate but he was right in being cautious. As it turned out, these young men were being led by a self-proclaimed bishop who also happened to be in trouble with the law over money matters and other issues. They were not associated at all with the Archdiocese.

So the next time you get a visit from “The Michaels” or any other group that appears to be Catholic, talk to your pastor.

Here’s what I found online, and they’re wearing white hats. I still think that one should be very careful about allowing strangers into your home.
