How do the good Leftists on this board justify reading The Nation? You know-- the Bible of the Left.

I have seen it in the libraries of several “peace/ justice” orientated parishes.

I know the rants about the “Male Dominated American Military Industrial Complex” might be appealing to you, as well as, the rants about the “Anti-Choice Religious Right.” Maybe, its the classified ads for phone sex in the back. Help me out?

The same goes for Harper’s magazine? Did you enjoy last month’s classified ad for a sex video about a teacher and a student.

“Let me tell you about Florida politicians. I make them, I make them out of whole cloth, just like a tailor makes a suit. I get their name in the newspaper. I get them some publicity and I get their name on the ballot. Then, after the election, we count the votes, and if they don’t turn out right, we recount them again until they do”–Edward G. Robinson to Humphrey Bogart in Key Largo

If one knew how to tear themselves away from the blinders of if someone is pro choice they have nothing true to say on any other subject they would realize that The Nation is full of political truth abouth the evils of the radical right.

I am Catholic, Democrat liberal who is anti abortion. I cannort side with republicans who except for the issue of abortion, I part ways with on everything else.

Never heard of it. Typically vote R, but with serious misgivings.

Apart from abortion, I seriously doubt the commitment of Dems to some of their own core causes. Their approach to poverty and race issues seems more designed to perpetuate these divisions in order to preserve them as a reliable voting block than to really promote justice and equality.

Too bad there is no party that respects natural law AND supports fair taxation and basic safeguards for the poor and disadvantaged.

Who said anything about being a Republican?
