My last question in CAF.

I hear in a homoly about Saint Joseph faterhood on Jesus, explaining about Saint Joseph was planned that Jesus may belong to the David’s house. Why that was needed? Also what was Nazareth context in that age? I remember read about someone in the Bible wondering “Can someone good come from Nazareth?”, what that’s mean?

Thank you.

God declared that King David’s line would rule forever, and scripture proclaimed that the Messiah would come from the house of David.

Nazareth was a small little backwater town in an area of Israel called Galilee. It wasn’t expected that these “country bumpkins” would really produce anything of worth. I wouldn’t try to take it literally. It just means that people saw Nazareth as being in the middle of nowhere and an unimportant village.

If you read the entire Bible you will notice that GOD often works through the most improbable ways. This is perhaps to make absolutely sure that no one can claim the deed as their own.
Time after time it is a constant.
Not the powerful or rich and wealthy or wise, but from the most humble of beginnings.
David was a shepherd, perhaps a sign? Jesus is also a shepherd.
David became King of Israel, Jesus is King of the Universe and beyond.

Peace!

‘And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.’ -Isaiah 11:1

Jesse is the father of King David. From that family tree comes the Just King, in prophesy.

Isaiah 11:1
And there shall come forth a rod out of the root of Jesse, and a flower shall rise up out of his root.
Jeremiah 23
5 Behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will raise up to David a just branch: and a king shall reign, and shall be wise, and shall execute judgement and justice in the earth.

Nathan the prophet was instructed to say to King David:

2 Samuel 7
12 And when thy days shall be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

Jesus was poor, and they asked if could anything good come from Nazareth because they looked down on that place, which fits with the prophesies:

Zechariah 9
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion, shout for joy, O daughter of Jerusalem: BEHOLD THY KING will come to thee, the just and saviour: he is poor, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Isaiah 53
3 Despised, and the most abject of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with infirmity: and his look was as it were hidden and despised, whereupon we esteemed him not.
