I’ve just discovered that one of the individuals I’m trying to evangelized, is basically a Christmas and Easter Only Catholic. I have now become part of the New Evangelization, how do go about doing it?

Your actions will most likely speak louder than your words. You can invite this person to Mass or any other events in your diocese. Always be kind, generous, don’t judge or condemn, be loving and treat this person with dignity. If they are open to discussion, you can ask why they don’t attend weekly Mass. Refer them when they are ready to Catholic radio, EWTN. Be patient let the Holy Spirit do the work. Don’t try to force them. Blessings.

I suggest you remind people that every Sunday and Day of Obligation Mass matters. The Mass is for worship and is meant to make us closer to God. God is a person. Imagine visiting Him at Church only twice a year. Now there may be different reasons for different people. But, that relationship with God should be there. He loves us and wants us to be holy.

Participating in this forum in a spirit of evangelization counts.

Since this person is a Catholic, C & E only, I think I would try to engage him in a conversation about what the Mass is, why it is perfect worship, and why the Father seeks those who worship Him “in Spirit and Truth” (Jn 4:23-24) and why the Holy Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” (Catechism #1324, quoting Vatican II’s Lumen Gentium #11).

The Catechism affirms this:

1407 The Eucharist is the heart and the summit of the Church’s life, for in it Christ associates his Church and all her members with his sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving offered once for all on the cross to his Father; by this sacrifice he pours out the graces of salvation on his Body which is the Church.

Does he realize this? Does he realize what he is neglecting? What he is missing? Why would he miss such holy treasure?

Thanks everyone for your advice, unfortunately the conversation has strayed since posting this, I’m going to have to pray and keep my eyes open for another opportunity or opening in our conversation.
