Anyone watch it?

I finished season 2 a few weeks ago, and found that I actually enjoyed it more than Star Trek: Picard. (Might have to turn in my Trekkie card.)

This new Lost in Space is a good old fashioned sci-fi ADVENTURE. Something that has been missing in much of the recent Star Trek. And unlike the new Trek, it’s mostly appropriate for the whole family.

My husband and I thought it was quite good. How I despise Dr. Smith! Much more evil than the dweeby villain from the tv show.

Does anyone object to the blasphemy that Netflix is doing against Jesus.
@porthos11 gave you an excellent answer in another thread. But to give you another perspective. There is no media platform that is 100% morally pure. Not even “Christian” media platforms. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So regardless of what streaming service you are using, you have to be discerning. If you can, research before you watch a show. Is there anything in this show that could lead you into sin? If yes, then skip it.

Hang onto it. Another Star Trek series is coming out and it promises to be a return to classic storytelling, without sacrificing character development. It’s called Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck (as Captain Pike, Number One, and Spock, respectively). It’s the Pike-era adventures of the USS Enterprise, and a spin-off of Star Trek Discovery.

Yes, I saw the announcement. I understand they intend for SNW to be more “episodic”, like the Original Series and TNG. I’m excited for the possibilities.

And they dang well better have Anson Mount recite the Enterprise’s mission statement in the opening credits. “Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise…”

I assume you’re referring to the female “Dr. Smith”. I thought it was cool that Bill “Will Robinson” Mumy did a cameo as the real Dr. Smith, whose identity she stole.

I got into the Star Trek shows in 2013 and was very hyped for the new stuff, and so far I can say I did not like either Discovery or Picard. Strange New Worlds is being headed by the same team and… I’ve a lack of faith in their abilities… The new Star Trek shows, in my opinion, are cut from a different cloth than all of the old Trek shows. Or to use a different metaphor, cooked from different ingredients… Other than having the brand name slapped onto it I’d hardly call the shows Star Trek at all…

HOWEVER, this topic is about the new Lost in Space. I have it on my watchlist but haven’t actually seen it yet. It sounds promising.

I’ve watched it and really enjoyed it. I’ve been thinking of rewatching the entire series in fact (time on my hands).

My only (mild) criticism is I feel the dad has been taken down a few pegs to make room for the butt-kicking mom. I guess they wanted to make him a more conflicted character, but he seems somewhat diminished to me, and it feels a tad politically correct and forced. Overall, though, both actors are good. And did you know, neither one is American, though you could have fooled me? The mother is played by a Canadian actress and the dad by an English one (son of Vanessa Redgrave, in fact).

I didn’t want to give any spoilers, as making the new Dr. Smith a female surprised me. And yeah, we both thought the cameo was cool. The new robot is scary though.

@DaveBj Could you perhaps, please, edit your post and spoiler blur your comment?

I don’t know how to do that. Anyway, that episode is over two years old. It’s hardly a surprise any more.

Depends. I only heard of the existence of the series today, in this very thread, so it is a surprise to me but I would not classify it as a spoiler after that amount of time. Of course, my Netflix usage can be charitably described as “not much” so take it for what it’s worth.

When you compose a post, the blur spoiler option is under the wheel on the far right of the toolbar.
