The New Pope Series

Anyone watched this new series The New Pope? How was it? Nice or too sexualized/offensive?

It’s actually a few years old…have I watch it? Yes…How was it? I found it mildly entertaining…Was is too sexualized/offensive…I don’t think, by my tastes “too” sexualized…was it offensive? Although not my cup of tea, I am not too sensitive, and didn’t go into the viewing believing because the subject matter had to do with an honest portrayal of the Papacy and the Church.

Many, who can’t separate fact from fiction, or entertainment from history, will be deeply offended.

So, consider your own sensitivities before settling in and popping the corn!

I’m enjoying it, it’s very stylised and visually compelling. Good story, dialogue and acting.
It is a bit on the “sexy” side sometimes though, probably a 15 BBFC Cert level. Depends what your views on that are as to whether you’d find it offensive I guess.

Oh, my bad…I read “New Pope” and thought “Young Pope”…didn’t know they were two different series…the one I was speaking of was Young Pope, which is several years old.

I enjoyed The Young Pope. It was a little risqué at times, but nothing over the top for my tastes. I hope to see The New Pope at some point, and expect it to be very similar in style to its predecessor.

The first episode of The New Pope was hilarious. The creators are aware of some of the less proper dimensions of the Vatican and manage to show ridiculous they can be.
