My glimpse of Swiss Guards, on my visit to Italy as awesome gift from my sons and their wives.
Such a privilege to be at Saint Peter’s, so many emotions and thoughts of past visitors, some of whom are canonized saints, Wonderful to experience Mass and Communion in this blessed place

Was that a Missing Man formation or do they just not know how to line up?
Seems to me they have some who actually dress in plain clothes (and likely carry heat). Fancy costumes make for nice ceremony.

Why do they have to dress in silly costumes? Why can’t it be an older age costume by less stripes and all that?
There was an older guy dressed in red in the video. His costume was medieval but less silly.
Anyway just saying. Maybe the silliness is just so they don’t look nasty like regular bodyguards.

Perhaps they like having a traditional costume. It also sets them apart from the various other types of law enforcement that frequent the area of the Vatican.
