Hello

I was brought up in the C of E faith but feel a strong spiritual calling to the Catholic faith. I would like to find out more about Catholicism. Can anyone point me in the direction of some great books / online resources?

Also, a funny thing happened to me recently. I was sitting with my mum and she questioned if I was wearing perfume (I don’t wear it). Could this be something similar to the odour of sanctity and God speaking to me? It really surprised me when my mum said this.

Thanks

Smelling things that others don’t can be a medical disorder. I would recommend seeing a physican if it keeps up.

Oddly enough I just posted this for another person.

All of these are AMAZING books. You may be able to find them cheaper on ebay or Amazon, but if you can support the Sisters, than that is very good.

Thank you for both answers:-) I will definitely look into reading those books.

Hi keepyourfaith,

The Vatican also has different resources available if you just want to take a look around their website too:

There is also a book called “Catholicism for Dummies” that is supposed to be a good and general resource book for those seeking information on the Catholic faith. It is by Rev.John Trigilio, Jr.

You can find it at different book sellers.

As far as what your Mom was smelling, if something like that persists, I would recommend talking to your Pastor about that, and seeking his guidance. 🙂

God bless you!

Also, along with those excellent suggestions, ring the Catholic Diocese, find out Mass times, go along. Chat with the Priest. They have a good program called RCIA. Not sure if you can go along to a few introductory sessions.

@pianistclare

Will know.

At Mass just don’t go up for the Eucharist until you have the Sacraments required. And in Mass, know the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.

I will pray for you

It certainly was a pleasant moment with your mum. I feel you received a special blessing.

I grew up in the Episcopal church, America’s version of Church of England, and I had always
had a strong pull to Catholicism also. I finally became Catholic in 2008 when I was 56.
I am sorry I didn’t do it sooner. My father supposedly was Catholic and my mother was
Lutheran although they were both non practicing when they married and they both joined the Episcopal church to raise my sister and i in the Episcopal faith.

One book I would always recommend for anyone from another Christian denomination to read is Scott and Kimberly Hahn’s, “Rome Sweet Home” It is a moving account of two dyed in the wool non-Catholics (and as they stated, anti-Catholics) journey to the RCC faith. Kimberly’s contributions are moving if one (especially a wife and mother) identifies with her struggle.

Prayers for your successful swim across the Tiber.

Peace.
