Hi everyone. I am interested in the sisterhood. Well, I found a convent/abbey that is Augustinian. However, I know next to nothing about the Augustinian order. Can someone possibly help me understand? Thanks.
Thank you for the well wishes.Hello
I wish you all the very best if that what your heart desires.
Sorry cannot give you any information about the Order of St Augustine.
God Bless
Saint Andrew.
Thank you. I’m not really interested in the saint himself but in monastic orders that follow his rule.I haven’t read the life of St. Augustine, but here is a link for you:

Oooh that information is very helpful! Thank you!Holly,
The Order of St. Augustine (or Augustinian Friars or Hermits of St. Augustine) is a mendicant order, like the Franciscans, Dominicans, and Carmelites. This means that they support themselves with their own labor or by begging; they cannot own property in common.
The various congregations of Canons Regular are also sometimes called Augustinians, because, like the O.S.A., they follow the Rule of St. Augustine. Note that neither these Canons nor the Augustinians were actually founded by St. Augustine; they merely follow the rule composed by him.
I expect that the old Catholic Encyclopaedia at New Advent would have a great deal of information on these orders.
Good luck,
Scott
