Gerlado Rivera, Bill O’Reilly, Homosexuality and Child Molesters:
Huntington, CT - Stephen Bennett is Executive Director and Founder of
Stephen Bennett Ministries (SBM) in Huntington, CT. SBM is dedicated to
advocating for the traditional family, the protection of children and
proclaiming the truths about homosexuality.
Bennett is a former homosexual man, now happily married over 12 years to his
wife Irene. They are the parents of two small children.
Stephen, Irene and the staff of SBM minister to men and women seeking to
overcome their “unwanted” homosexuality, or same-sex attraction (SSA.)
Last night (Thu. Aug 25, 2005,) Bill O’Reilly, host of The O"Reilly Factor
on the FOX News Channel, interviewed another FOX News host - Geraldo
Rivera - of At Large with Geraldo Rivera.
Bennett has been a guest and interviewed by both FOX News hosts in the past
on both of their respective shows.
Bill O’Reilly and Geraldo Rivera discussed homosexuals and child molesters.
While Gerlado made it clear he was not saying “homosexuals are child
molesters,” Geraldo DID say an extremely outlandish comment - and simple
outright lie.
Paraphrased, Geraldo compared “homosexuals to child molesters” in his
misjudgment stating that individuals such as these “were BORN that way” and
could not be “rehabilitated.”
Geraldo said, concerning homosexual persons, that it was “offensive” to even
suggest “change.” So according to Geraldo Rivera’s belief system, there is
no such thing as a “former homosexual” - because if they were “born that
way,” change was impossible.
Bill O’Reilly in his non-response, seemed to make it clear he agreed with
Geraldo.
“As a man who once lived as a promiscuous homosexual for 11 years, I along
with numerous other men and women HAVE completely changed. We were NOT born
‘gay.’ After being a guest on both of these men’s shows and sharing my
story, not only is this statement inaccurate and out in left field, but also
extremely offensive to me and my family - and I’m sure thousands of others
out there,” said Stephen.
Bennett continued, "The media has bought into the lie that homosexual men
and women cannot change their unwanted same-sex attraction. FOX News, which
is supposed to be ‘fair and balanced,’ has promoted this misinformation on
numerous occasions.
This is the ministry I am involved in - and have been for nearly five years.
I’ve seen many people who have changed and know many other individuals and
colleagues who have. Many other organizations - religious and secular - have
helped men and women successfully overcome their unwanted homosexuality.
Geraldo Rivera and Bill O’Reilly both owe an apology to many people for
Geraldo’s inaccurate statements and misinformation. The whole ‘child
molesters are born that way’ statement is just as bizarre. I challenge both
of these hosts to be ‘fair and balanced’ and to another interview on air to
debate this topic.
Frankly, I’m sick and tired of being told people such as me - a FORMER
homosexual - do not exist. We DO exist," ended Stephen.
Stephen Bennett and his wife Irene are national speakers on the issue of
helping men and women overcome their unwanted homosexuality. They travel
worldwide and have been doing so full time for the last five years.
When called upon, Stephen speaks on behalf of The American Family
Association and Concerned Women for America. Stephen is the Special Issues
Editor on Homosexuality for The American Family Association and has written
commentaries for WorldNetDaily.com.
Stephen Bennett is authoring his first book, “I Was Gay” to be released in
early 2006 by a national publisher.
Stephen and Irene have appeared on numerous broadcasts including The
O’Reilly Factor, CNN, World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, Good Morning
America with Diane Sawyer, The Today Show, CBS’ Sunday Morning with Charles
Osgood, FOX NEWS Live, At Large with Geraldo Rivera, The PAX Network, Billy
Graham, The 700 Club and many more. Stephen has been featured in USA Today,
the Washington Times, The Chicago Tribune and many more publications.
