But the miracles of Jesus are all based upon His word, especially the Sabbath miracles.🙂

Hmmm; I seem to detect that old nemesis “tradition” vs. God’s word creeping up on this discussion. But that’s OK. Even though we are miles apart on some doctrines; I do not feel like Protestants and Catholics need to be enemies. I hope and pray that God will continue to bless our discussions online. 🙂

Umm, so Jesus word did stop somewhere?

I thought Jesus words were everlasting, from before the beginning of time?

I am not bringing up tradition, though it is the logical end… However, Jesus words are not limited to the New Testament scriptures, as I am sure you are aware.

By the way, the Word of God and Tradition are synonymous to a Catholic, not a nemesis.

One thing that I see this is the denial that Protestants use men to decipher what the Bible actually says. This denial goes in one form or another, though what most Protestants fail to realize is that you also have the need for someone to teach you what the Bible says (or else there wouldn’t be any need for pastors and ministers, and you can just go up to your pastor and tell him that he just lost his job since the whole congregation has decided to simply have a sit-in service, read the Bible silently, and go home, each with his own opinion as to what the Bible says). Clearly that is not the case.
This avoids the error of depending upon fallible men such as Priests, Bishops, Popes, Pastors, etc.

Yes, early Christianity was in great error since it depended on the Apostles, the bishops and priests for guidance, as well as they accepted some books as inspired and others as not, nevermind that most communities at that time didn’t have any complete canon like we do today. Woe as well for the Israelites who had the prophets and patriarchs for guidance–fallible men that they were, God still appointed them to give His word to the people. Maybe God is in error as well for letting * spread His word, or that Jesus should have just asked the Apostles to write instead of asking them to go and preach orally?*

I find some agreement in this post. I agree that there are miracles of God in the Catholic Church; just as there are in the Adventist Church. With the latter; I am one of them. 🙂
 
Miracles in the SDA Church? This does not surprise me. Most if not all Christian religions, if the Clergy and Laity is faithful can reasonably expect miracles.

Well, maybe we are making progress! You called “The SDA Church” a “Christian religion.” 🙂

We must note here though that my initial comment re miracles, was referring to a ministry that is solely miracle-based, and is not entirely founded upon the Bible.

Let us try to get on track with the OP here re “The Papal Anti-Christ.” I was wondering what you see the anti-christ as being?

KJK, this isn’t a Catholic perception of Seventh-Day Adventism, but rather a perception found within some Protestant circles. The late Protestant apologetics writer and founder of The Christian Research Institute, Dr. Walter Martin, originally classified SDA as a non-Christian cult in his well-known work The Kingdom of the Cults; he later corrected himself, seeing SDA as within the realm of Christian orthodoxy. Some evangelicals, though, maintain that SDA is a cult because they view it as being based on Law and not Grace, and because SDAs don’t belief in OSAS.
 
The SDA’s use the KJV, don’t they? It never occoured to me that they were not Christian. Telling a Christian they are not saved is tantamount to calling the Holy Spirit a liar. I’m just not up for that.

The antiChrist is still a mystery to me. Lately, I am getting the feeling that things are going to heat up soon. The time may have come for each of us to clean house and put the affairs of our lives in order. I just can’t shake the feeling that trouble is coming soon.

I would be interested to hear what makes you “feel” such things? Can you describe anything at all that would atleast give a clue as to what kinds of thoughts you currently have about the antichrist, as mentioned in the Bible? Or, can you discuss official Catholic teachings on this, and what your thoughts are on those?
 
Well I can’t speak on behalf of the Catholic Church as all my theories are just that, my theories. The Church does not focus as much on future events such as the Revelation as it does on the here and now. So many people are dying unsaved today that for the Church to direct it’s attention on what might be, sacrifices them. The Church puts it’s trust in God that he will be there for us and see that his Church will not perish. Again, my opinion only and no reflection of the official policy of the Catholic Church.

The Revelation is one of many end times prophecies. Some others would be the Mayan prophecy of 2012 citing universal destruction and recreation, The Chinese I Ching as translated by the late Terrence McKenna runs out on December 21 2012. Many religions have end times prophecies that are set to expire “soon”.

Not that any of those non Biblical accounts carry any weight with me, but it’s like the Revelation is the bedrock floor and it’s shaking hard. All the other prophecies are like the furniture and they are falling over. If there were no Revelation, I would thumb my nose and give them all a resounding BAH! Unfortunatly, the Revelation frames them all together in a very ominous picture which I simply can’t ignore. Everything it seems says the end is near if not hear. So in my attempts to understand, I run into a physics paradox that unsettles me at times to the point of distraction.

If the end is as near as prophecies suggest, then there is no time for hate among the religions, we must all prepare ourselves for our roles as Temples of the Holy Spirit. So many scientists who deny God, try to find out how short a short time can be. Tragically, for them, on judgement day, Their Lord may show them how long a long time can be. No more time for doubt or questions. We die whether we believe or not, we might as well trust God.

Dude, some typos are for effect. I kudnt evn spell pylut, now I r 1
Besides, computes sometimes make decisions for you and you can’t fix them. I tried to respell my handle but the system won’t let me. I tried to change it but no luck. Typos are a big turn off, they make one sound like a cretin, but the computer has little merceeee.:rolleyes:
