Our pope is evangelising, and there will inevitably be people who will distort the message because they hate the church, then those who will simply misunderstand because they are poorly informed, those who will get angry because they are more Catholic than the pope, and finally, those who will accept and understand and follow him in order to know Jesus.

Reading this was like a breath of fresh air. A reality check. There is so much panic over this interview and that rubbed on me as well. I think it is really important to be reminded that whatever a pope says will be received in a number of different ways.

I feel the same way. The chatter upsets me. I think I will ignore such things in the future. The blog posted I linked to dealt with the interview drama in such an intelligent and Biblical way. Everything that happens can always be related to Jesus’ words. I guess we just tend to forget that.
