Matthew 26:26-29 That tuesday night while Jesus and his 12 disciples were eating the passover meal, he took a loaf of bread and blessed it and broke it and gave it to the 12 saying, “take and eat, this is my body” And he took a cup of wine, gave thanks to God and said, “drink it, this is my blood which seal the new covenant, poured out for many, for the forgiveness of their sins. Do this in memory of me.” Every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are representing and signifying and proclaiming the fact of the Lord’s death until he comes back.
Romans 5:12-18 Sin entered the world through Adam, and death as the result of his desobedience. And so death spread to all men. What a contrast between Adam and Christ who was yet to come. For Adam brought death to many through his sin; but Jesus brought forgiveness to many through God’s mercy. The sentence following the trespass of Adam brought condemnation, whereas the free gift following many transgressions brought justification. The sin of Adam caused death to be king over all, but all who will receive God’s grace and the gift of righteousness, shall reign in life through Jesus Christ. By the offense of one, judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of Jesus, the free gift came upon all men to justification of life.
Leviticus 17:11 The life of every living thing is in the blood, that 's why the Lord has commanded that all blood be poured out on the altar to take away the people’s sins. For it is the blood that makes atonement by reason of the life.
Exodus 24:3-8 Then Moses announced to the people all the laws and regulations God had given him. And he wrote them down. He built an altar and sacrificed burnt offerings to the Lord. And he took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and the other half, he sprinkled on the altar. Then he took the book of the covenant in which were written the commands and he read it to the people. And they responded, ‘we will obey them’ And he took the remaining half of the blood and threw it on the people saying, ‘this is the blood that seals the covenant which the Lord made with you when he gave all these commands’
Matthew 20:28 The Son of man did not come to be waited on, but to serve and to give his life to redeem many people.
1corinthians10:16 When we ask the Lord’s blessing upon the cup of wine at the table, this means that all who drink it are participating in the blessing of christ’s blood. And from the bread we break to eat, we are sharing together in the benefits of his body.
Hebrews 8:7-13 If the first agreement did work, there would have been no need for another to replace it. But God found fault with his people when he said, “the time is coming when i will make a new covenant with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant i made with their ancestors; they did not keep their part in that agreement, so i disregarded them. now this is the covenant that i will make with them, i will write my law on their hearts so that they shall want to honor me. Then they shall truly be my people and i will be their God. At that time it will be no longer necessary to admonish one another to know the Lord, for everyone both great and small shall know me and i will forgive and forget their sins”. By speaking of the promises of the new agreement, God has made the first one old.
