Did anyone else notice that at each Mass said by the Pope in Africa the crucifix on the altar was facing the Pope and away from the people.

It seems that ever since the new altar arrangement was adopted about a year ago, that the cross has been facing the Pope at all his Masses. Even in St. Peter’s. I know there have been questions about it on different web sites but so far, I have not seen any reason for it put forth.
