One thing I’ve always loved about Eastern Christianity is the prayer rule for laity, like this one. I find the set of morning prayers very helpful to me.

Is there anything even similar to this in the Western church? I’ve been looking, but the only thing I could find is the Liturgy of the Hours and it’s so complicated; I don’t know how to do it!

The short version of the LOH, Christian Prayer, isn’t all that difficult to figure out with the guide that comes with it. It took me a little time to figure out the abbriviations, but with a little explaination from CAF online buddies, I finally got it. I love the psalms and prayers and knowing I am praying with so many others, even tho I am by myself.

It took me some time to learn the Liturgy of the Hours, but the confusion and slow prayer in the beginning is a fair trade off for later when you know you are praying at that time with countless other Catholics in the world and hearing God’s Words at the same time the Pope himself is!👍

I started off very easy with the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin, which is available online at EWTN.

Now I’ve graduated to Morning, Evening and Night prayer with a little book called ‘A Shorter Morning and Evening Prayer’ which I find easy to follow.

Once I have that down I’ll graduate to Christian Prayer 👍
