How much did the prophets actually know about the New Covenant? Did they have a vague idea that something new would happen, and they didn’t really comprehend what God was saying through them, or did they grasp what they were saying about a New Covenant or the Suffering Servant?

Just some random thoughts/Q’s. 🙂
 
They knew alot but they did not see all His works. Jesus says Abraham saw Him and was glad. Many prophets knew the Messiah would suffer for the people

Acts 7
52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers

I guess those Jews in the old testament did not like that the Messiah would be a light to the gentiles
