Originally the term “Noblesse” was applied to the nobility but now it is often applied to anyone who has wealth, power or fame. Such privileges are thought to confer obligations towards those who are less fortunate, implying that we are not isolated individuals but members of a community which should be based on the principle of fraternity. It is a “noble” attempt to rectify the inequality and injustice in society!Perhaps this is a dumb question, but what is the rationale behind the concept of Noblesse Oblige? I like the concept but I don’t understand the reasoning behind it. What are some thoughts?
