The Rosary and the mysteries said on certain days

Regarding the current formula for which mysteries should accompany the Rosary on certain days:

i.e.
Joyful - Monday and Saturday
Sorrowful - Tuesday and Friday
Luminous - Thursday
Glorious - Wednesday and Sunday

Are these suggestions? Or is it proper for a person to say a “Sorrowful” Rosary on a Wednesday?

The rotation is just a suggestion. The Rosary is a private devotion, so it’s up to you to determine what is “proper”. Part of what makes observing the rotation nice in my opinion is the fact that most folks praying the Rosary on any particular day will be meditating on the same mysteries that you are, so as a church we are praying together. But if you are called to meditate on the Sorrowful mysteries on a Wednesday, or even every day you pray the rosary, that’s just fine.

When I started praying the rosary I just googled it and found instructions later confirmed by my Grandma. I thought the sorrowful included Thursdays.

Either way I would like to think that our lady could forgive us if we do the wrong meditation. Don’t you think?

If Our Lady could forgive JP2 for adding the Luminous Mysteries and changing the rotation then I think she can forgive us if we say our mysteries on a different day

And the Sorrowful Mysteries have always traditionally been on Friday since this is the day on which Christ died.
