I have one of both, but I don’t know which to devote my time to!! This is becoming stressful and it shouldn’t be. I feel like since I just bought one of each, I should be using them and that I’ve “wasted” my money if I’m not using one of them.

Venting over. How should I handle this situation??

I have never heard of the Chotki but I looked it up and saw what it was. I use the Rosary. It is a very good prayer. Try both if your not sure.

Oh my! There is no need to stress over this. Say them both. Alternate. Say whichever one you feel like at the time. I have had my rosary for almost 40 years. Whatever my parents spent on it was well worth it. You have not ‘wasted’ money by buying both prayer tools.

I would agree - alternate between 'em. If you feel, down the road, like you’d really prefer to have just the one or the other, then give the one you don’t want as a present to someone 🤷

Oy, vey.

Well, I pray the Jesus Prayer on my rosary every morning (about the equivalent of a 50 bead/knot chotki), the Rosary in the afternoon, and the Divine Mercy about threeish in the afternoon, so don’t ask me.

I say use both. The Jesus Prayer can be very nice last thing before you go to sleep at night, with the advantage that if you fall asleep before you’ve finished, you haven’t left something unfinished (meditating on all five Mysteries du Jour), you’ve just said a prayer fewer times than you meant to.

You sound like you might have some problems with scrupulosity. If you do, you need to place yourself under the guidance of a spiritual director and plan a daily prayer rule with your director. If you have problems with scrupulosity, the last thing you need is to ask the advice of all of us on what prayers to pray.

I have both. Personally, my devotion is to the Rosary. However, I found saying the Jesus prayer with the chotki to be highly, no, incredibly effective against temptations. And so I use both depending on the situation I am in. I think the chotki is a great gift from our Eastern brethren.
