Can someone inform me on who started the rosery and when?
 
The rosary is attributed to St.Dominic. Here’s the link that will give you a very detailed history of it and its beauty.newadvent.org/cathen/13184b.htm

October is the month of the rosary but May is the month of Mary and we regularly say it before mass each Sunday during this month.
