Hello everyone…
I am new to the community but wanted to ask a question. I have been attending Sunday Mass and special holiday mass’ for the last 15 to 20 years. I’ve baptized both my girls and have had them had there first communion and are in the middle of attending confirmation classes. In doing so, I have not been able to complete my classes in order to of had my communion and be confirmed. I wantedd to know is there a way to earn these online and in less then 3 months? As an adult I understand how religion is important in a family but I find that to attend classes for myself seems to be unattainable being a college student, work full time and am a full time mom and grandmother. Could anyone help???

you would have to ask your pastor what arrangments you can make to complete your own preparation, there may be something available on campus through your Catholic campus ministry as well.

In this parish, if you had been participating in the Parent-Sponsor meetings required for those who have children preparing for sacraments, you would have covered everything necessary for your own sacraments at the same time. I planned it that way to make it more convenient for parents and encourage those who still need sacraments to do so. At the same time, those who have marriage issues are also meeting with the deacons for convalidation or whatever else is required. We want to make sure if it is possible, for parents to receive communion when their children make first communion. So sad when that cannot happen for whatever reason.

Talk to the priest maybe between you something creative can be worked out. Catholicism 101 on catholic.net is an on-line study that may work.

Regardless of how long it takes you to prepare, the bishop confirms at the date he sets, so you may have to wait for that sacrament, although you could make first confession and first communion sooner if it were necessary.

The section that seems most relevant to you is Section 4:
“4 PREPARATION OF UNCATECHIZED ADULTS FOR CONFIRMATION AND EUCHARIST
376 The following pastoral guidelines concern adults who were baptised as infants but did not receive further catechetical formation nor, consequently, the sacraments of confirmation and eucharist. These suggestion, may also be applied to similar cases, especially that of an adult who recover after being baptised in danger of death or at the point of death (see no. 350). Even though uncatechized adults have not yet heard the message the mystery of Christ, their status differs from that of catechumens, since by baptism they have already become members of the Church and children of God. Hence their conversion is based on the baptism they have already received, the effects of which they must develop.
377 As in the case of catechumens, the preparation of these adults requires a considerable time (see no. 76), during which the faith infused in baptism must grow in them and take deep root through the pastoral formation they receive. A programme of training, catechesis suited to their needs, contact with the community of the faithful, and participation in certain liturgical rites are needed in order to strengthen them in the Christian life.
378 For the most part the plan of catechesis corresponds to the one laid down for catechumens (see no. 75,1). But in the process of catechesis the priest, deacon, or catechist should take into account that these adults have a special status because they are already baptised.”

Another section that may be helpful is Section 2: “2 CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS IN EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES”, n. 307-315. Note that the USA books have some different paragraph numbers to this UK edition.
