Are they then a religion or church, or rather a political organization?

Are they then a religion or church, or rather a political organization?
From their website:

“The mission of The Satanic Temple is to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense and justice, and be directed by the human conscience to undertake noble pursuits guided by the individual will. Politically aware, Civic-minded Satanists and allies in The Satanic Temple have publicly opposed The Westboro Baptist Church, advocated on behalf of children in public school to abolish corporal punishment, applied for equal representation where religious monuments are placed on public property, provided religious exemption and legal protection against laws that unscientifically restrict women’s reproductive autonomy, exposed fraudulent harmful pseudo-scientific practitioners and claims in mental health care, and applied to hold clubs along side other religious after school clubs in schools besieged by proselytizing organizations.”

The devil’s greatest trick is to convince people he never existed. Of course they worship who they depict. They made their choice what can I say.

I’m a former member of The Satanic Temple, and, having noticed a few comments dismissing them as mostly harmless, think I should speak out. It’s true that they engage in some charitable efforts that are, in and of themselves, laudable actions. For all I know, it may even be true that they (meaning, chapter-level leadership and higher) don’t believe in the literal Satan of Scripture. What’s not true is that they (meaning, once more for clarity, chapter-level leadership and higher) don’t believe in the supernatural and/or practice magic.

It worries me that, through proselytizing (really) such as the recent Netflix documentary, religiously indifferent people who also are disinterested in or wary of the occult may be getting lured in on the false belief that this group doesn’t practice it.

This is dangerous stuff and why I returned to the Church despite every temptation to remain agnostic.

sorry, its all I could conjure up so to speak. lol! 😃

I appreciate the compliment, but I was only sensible enough to leave when I did.

This is why freedom of religion is an error.
If freedom of religion is an error, it is an error taught by the Catholic Church. It is also one of the founding principles of the nation you have chosen to serve.

In their best efforts, trying to ensure the US is not allowed to gravitate into a theocracy.

Well, but who or what is satan?
The picture we know is nothing but Baphomet which in turn is a mutilated version of Cernunnos, one of my many gods.
So, if you guys “stole” my gods look to describe satan, is that really how he looks?
Or might my god Cernunnos even be satan?
After all, Cernunnos is the lord of the hunt, god of lust and the underworld.
But not in an evil way as your satan.
Or does satan even exist in the way you guys beliefe it?
Who knows?
Right, nobody knows…
